WebOct 9, 2012 · Mother's and Flitz are great. If you want to polish the outside of a blued or stainless weapon, Renaissance Wax is the best that I have found. It is even used by the National Archive and Smithsonian for many things. WebNov 7, 2014 · A great substitute for Flitz is Blue Magic, which you can find on the net. It works on any metal. Best on aluminum and plated parts. Chrome simply needs to be cleaned and the shine brought out with a decent chrome polish (I use "Mother's"). Blue Magic works here, too. WebThe other thing I don't like about Flitz is that even though they claim it's for fiberglass...get it on your fiberglass and it leaves a nice black smudge, like shoe scuffs, that only rubbing compound can remove - at least that was my experience time and time again. So, I tend to try to polish the metal first, and then do the fiberglass polishing.

But for aluminum, I get the best results with Mother's Billet Aluminum polish.
